What Is the Articulation of your resume, and curriculum vitae & Why Is It Important to Stand Out on ATS Systems?

In the context of this article, articulating means – Expressing yourself readily in a clear, and effective manner that stands out to speak for you whenever it presents itself before ATS systems during your application submission.

Adding voice to your resume is a very important aspect that will trigger or enable recruiters to fetch your skills and experience out while it also matters to building up your skills towards the role.

What is an applicant tracking system?

As the name implies an ATS – Applicant Tracking System is an automated artificial intelligence -AI-based algorithm that is used to track applicant skills and requirements in a job hiring process. Top consulting companies and medium-scale companies use the applicant tracking system to review applications with a set of keywords that aligns with the job-required skills, resumes are filtered through the ATS keywords algorithm to select the top candidate and send a notification email to those that fail to meet up with a required set of skills.

How to Articulate Your Unique Skills and Qualities That Employers Value.

Step 1 – Get Clear on Your Strengths & Experiences Before You Start Writing

The key important aspect of planning to prepare a new unique resume, and curriculum vitae is to understand your strengths – strength is the ability in you as the achievements you have gathered over time in your professional career.

Let’s take for instance. My strength is to create a process flow in automation and streamline all input to increase the outcome and improve business requirements.

What is your experience?

A professional experience is a tool that all hiring managers look out for in a resume and curriculum vitae. To exceed in the hiring process, make sure your resume follows the key point highlighted below:

  • Demonstrate all your experience and achievements, not as per the job description.
  • List the set of tools you were using and your mastery ability towards those tools.
  • Don’t lie or try to maneuver to find a way around them because it will show along the line in the real sense.
  • Ensure you include your most recent skills and certifications that align with the job.
  • Remove irrelevant professional experience that doesn’t match the new job.

Step 2 – Craft an Impactful Summary That Captures Your Professional Story

To win in your resume, and in your curriculum vitae professional summary, ensure your craft an impactful summary of your professional story. Do well to add some keywords found in the job description as specific for a particular job. A professional summary captures a lot of things such as

  • Who you are,
  • Your strengths,
  • How do your skills align with your professional career path?
  • What you are looking out for in a new role
  • Companies/industries that spark your interest

Step 3 – Maximize the Use of Keywords in Your Resume & Curriculum Vitae

Finally, utilize the use of professional keywords in your resume and curriculum vitae. A professional keyword is important to add if you writing a tailored resume. One of the advantages is that it captures mostly all the requirements hiring managers or an applicant tracking machine (ATS) uses to filter mind-blowing resumes. As you all know that we have thousands of professions in the world – make use of your professional keyword as we have learned in this article.

Conclusion

Gaining employment starts from your resume, and curriculum vitae that is like the first shoot to start the journey. Is either your resume lands into an ATS AI tool or right in the inbox of a hiring manager? What makes it stand out, is your ability to demonstrate your strengths, experience, and skills. Writing an impactful professional summary that will uniquely capture your professional keywords found within the job description. One of my strategies is to ensure that my resume and curriculum vitae are short and directly at least 2 pages long. Include your first and last name while saving your resume with the role you are applying for.

Bonus point.

I will advise you to include an email signature that captures your certifications, location, and a banner image design just a Linkedin header. The hiring manager will get you notice on time.
